What is computer virus? What can virus do? Types of computer virus

 We can easily understand the virus based on the following points: -

 1: -virus is a small program that infects a large program in our system so that the system is not able to function properly or is damaged.

 2: -Virus makes its own copy and goes to other computers through some medium (eg: - pendrive, CD etc.) and infects it as well.  Thus a virus infects many computers.

 3: - The main purpose of the virus is to infect and destroy data and important information.

 4: - Even those viruses are man-made, meaning viruses are made by humans and they are not generated by themselves.

 5: -The first virus was named Elk Cloner which was written by Rich Skrenta in 1982.

 6: -Virus can be sent very quickly and easily via e-mail.

 7: -Antivirus software is used to avoid viruses.

 What can virus do ?: -

 1: -Files can destroy.
 2: - can slow down the system.
 3: - You can show the message in your system.
 4: - can have complete control over the system.

Types of computer virus: -

 There are many types of viruses in a computer. Some of the following are: -

 1: -Boot virus: - Boot virus infects the system's floppy and hard disk.  To avoid this type of virus, we should see that the floppy disk is well write and we should not start the system by placing the unknown floppy disk in the disk drive.  This type of virus is also known as Master Boot Sector Virus.

 2: -Macro virus: - Macro viruses are created using macro programming language.  These viruses infect files.

 3: -e-mail virus: - e-mail virus is a new virus.  It keeps moving around the message and it gets sent to e-mail address automatically.

 4: -Memory resident virus: - These viruses are stored in RAM.  And RAM infects the memory, so that the system shuts down as soon as it opens.

 5: -file virus: - File viruses are associated with .exe files, .zip files and .bin files.  This virus infects the files that execute.

 6: -network virus: - This virus spreads in the local area network and slows down the network.  It also spreads through the Internet.

 7: - Polymorphic Virus: - This virus is a very complicated virus that affects the functions of the computer.  This type of virus is very difficult to detect because the virus encrypts itself every time, which changes its signature.
